Boone County Jail Overview
Boone County Jail is operated by the elected Boone County Jailer. The official jail page identifies Jason Maydak as Jailer, lists the facility at 3020 Conrad Lane, Burlington, KY 41005, and gives the main jail phone as 859-334-2143. The jail is the secure county facility used for booking, housing, detention, and release after arrests made by Boone County law-enforcement agencies.
The official Boone County Jail information describes two local facilities under the jail system: the secure Main Jail and the Boone County Jail Work Camp. This page covers the Main Jail. Boone County says the Main Jail can house up to 424 inmates and includes maximum, medium, and minimum security classifications. The county jail serves agencies including the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Florence Police Department, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport Police, and Kentucky State Police.
The county's official jail page is a useful starting point because it links to the jailer profile, current inmates, inmate information, Work at the Jail, and other jail resources. The official Boone County Jail page shows the jailer and contact block used for local custody questions.
That official source is the better contact point for custody and facility questions than the sheriff's office, because Kentucky jailers and sheriffs are separate local offices.
Boone County Jail Capacity and Population
The Boone County Jail Main Jail is a 424-bed secure facility according to the county's jail overview and the Kentucky Department of Corrections weekly jail report. The Kentucky DOC report dated June 4, 2026 listed the secure Boone facility with a reported population of 441, which placed the Main Jail at 104% of rated capacity. The same report broke that count into 393 secure male prisoners and 48 secure female prisoners.
The county's About the Boone County Jail page is the local source that separates the Main Jail from the Work Camp and gives the Main Jail capacity.
That distinction matters because the secure Main Jail and the minimum-security Work Camp have separate population counts and different visitation schedules.
The June 4, 2026 report also showed 203 federal inmates in the secure Boone facility. That figure matters for searches because a person physically housed at Boone County Jail may still be there under a federal or immigration arrangement. Local pretrial detainees, local sentenced inmates, state inmates in county jail categories, federal inmates, and ICE detainees can all create different record trails even when the physical address is the same.

How to Look Up an Inmate at Boone County Jail
Use the Boone County Jail Inmate Information roster first for local jail custody. The roster is a Boone County-hosted search application with a status filter for Current, Released, and All inmates, name fields, records-per-page choices, sorting by name or booking date, and a Display Detail control for individual results. The county's inmate landing page says the tool is for individuals currently housed at the Boone County Jail and provides booking details and custody status.
- Open the Boone County Jail roster and choose Current, Released, or All in the inmate status field.
- Search by first name, last name, or a partial name if the spelling may vary.
- Sort the list by last name, first name, booking date, or scheduled release date.
- Use Display Detail when available, then confirm the person is in Boone County Jail rather than another custody system.
If the county roster does not find the person, search by custody type rather than repeating the same query. Kentucky Department of Corrections KOOL is for sentenced Kentucky offenders and DOC supervision. The Federal Bureau of Prisons locator is for federal inmates from 1982 to present after transfer to BOP custody. ICE custody should be checked with the ICE Online Detainee Locator and, for people housed at Boone County Jail, the ICE facility phone path at 859-334-2143 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. VINELink is a notification system, not the same thing as the Boone roster, and can help with release or transfer alerts.
The ICE detention-facility page for Boone County Jail is the official source for the local ICE phone path.
Use that ICE facility page only for immigration-custody questions; it does not replace the Boone roster for ordinary local jail bookings.
Boone County Jail Address and Contact
For custody confirmation, visitation questions, ICE detainee information during the posted ICE phone window, and general jail information, use the jail phone rather than the sheriff's administrative phone. The jail and sheriff's office are close together in Burlington, but they are different offices with different records. Arrest reports, incident reports, and sheriff records generally route through the Boone County Sheriff's Office; jail custody and inmate services route through the Boone County Jailer.

Visiting Someone at Boone County Jail
Main Jail visits are video visits at the facility and must be scheduled in advance by visiting the jail lobby during scheduled visitation periods. Visitors must be 18 or older unless accompanied by an adult, must sign in, may be asked for valid photo ID such as a state ID or passport, and must consent to a search. Only one adult visitor at a time is permitted, and the visit time may be shared by up to three people.
| Day | Hours | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday | 7 a.m.-12 p.m. | Main Jail video visit, last names A-M, up to 30 minutes |
| Thursday | 7 a.m.-12 p.m. | Main Jail video visit, last names N-Z, up to 30 minutes |
| Saturday | 7 a.m.-12 p.m. | Main Jail video visit, all inmates, 15 minutes |
Remote video visits are handled through Inmate Sales. The county's inmate information page says users create or log into an account, select a facility and product, enter personal information, purchase minutes, and schedule the visit. The official inmate information page is the source for the visitation, mail, deposit, attorney visit, and program rules.
Confirm the schedule before traveling, because jail visitation can change for security, staffing, holidays, or a person's housing status.
Mail, Phone, and Money at Boone County Jail
Incoming mail must use the jail's postcard rules. The county states that incoming mail must be on a plain pre-stamped postcard purchased at a post office, written in pen or pencil, and include the sender's full name and return address. Mail with marker, crayon, stickers, labels, glue, or other prohibited materials can be returned. Privileged legal mail from courts, attorneys, or officials is opened and inspected for contraband in the inmate's presence.
| Service | Provider / Detail |
|---|---|
| Mail Address | Inmate's Name, Boone County Jail, P.O. Box 898, Burlington, KY 41005 |
| Phone / Video | Phone minutes through 877-998-5678 or inmatesales.com; video visits through Inmate Sales |

Photos may be mailed if they meet the county's rules, including a stamp on the back and the sender's name and address. The research found that inmates may possess up to two 3x5 photos. Inmates may not correspond with inmates in other facilities, and non-legal packages may be refused by the Jailer if they create a security risk.
Booking and Intake at Boone County Jail
A Boone County arrest normally begins with an agency such as the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Florence Police Department, CVG Airport Police, or Kentucky State Police. The person is transported to Boone County Jail for intake, identity processing, property handling, search procedures, health screening, custody classification, and housing assignment. The county roster may show the name and booking date after processing, but the research did not locate a county-posted guarantee for how quickly a new booking appears online.
After booking, the case moves through District Court or Circuit Court depending on the charge. District Court handles misdemeanors, violations, traffic matters, arraignments, and felony probable-cause hearings; Circuit Court handles felony prosecution. Bond and release conditions come from the court record, not from the roster alone. If a federal, ICE, DOC, parole, or out-of-county hold exists, local bond may not be enough to release the person from custody.
About Boone County Jail
Boone County's local jail operations include more than secure housing. Official sources describe AA meetings, chaplain services, mental-health support, GED classes, Exodus counseling, food-service work, PREA reporting, and a Work Camp connection. Boone reports more than 8,000 prisoners processed through the county jail system last year and says the food-service program produces more than 525,000 meals annually, with 95% cooked from scratch.
PREA information is also part of the facility record. The county's PREA page states that the jail has zero tolerance for sexual abuse and sexual harassment, and that reports on behalf of an inmate can be made to the shift supervisor at 859-334-2143. The Boone County Jail PREA page includes the report archive and safety-reporting information.
Those official pages help separate current jail operations from court case outcomes, sheriff reports, and statewide correctional records.
Note: Verify custody, visit eligibility, and any federal or ICE hold with Boone County Jail before traveling or posting bond.
